The Institute is attached to the Yugoslav State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs in Belgrade. It was established toward the end of 191+7 by Edvard Kardelj, after his return from Moscow, according to the pattern of a similar Russian Institute then under the Soviet academician Eugene Varga. The Yugoslav Institute is in charge of collecting and analyzing events and research in the fields of politics and economics of foreign countries for the use of the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs and other Yugo- slav institutions dealing with foreign countries. Its offices are located on Poincare Street in the former building of the Chamber of Industry. It is significant to note that the Central Committee of the Federation of Yugoslav Communists (FCY) has the authority to propose individuals for the post of manager of the Institute. Since 1911.7 the following persons have held this post: a. Dr. Milan Bartos - former professor at Belgrade University, presently Minister Plenipotentiary and professor of the Party School in Belgrade; b. Labud Kusovac; c. Sokolov,(fnu); d. Radomir Davidovic - nicknamed "Kepa", who is presently a manager of the Political and Economic School in Belgrade; e. History of Yugoslav Diplomacy: Former chiefs of this department are Bajcic (fnu), and Vlahovic, Beljko Vlahovicts brother; they were transferred to the State Secretariat for Foreign Affairs around the beginning of 1954. e. Analysis of International Problems: The chief of this department is Vera Vikolova' The chiefs of all other departments co collaborate in L the work of this Department. Political and Economic School 3. This school is located on Kamenicka Street in Belgrade) The school has presently about 400 students. Among others, the following are teachers of the school: Radomir Davidovic, Mirko Petrovic, Vuco (fnu), Davico (fnu), and Veselinovic (fnu). All students are Party members. The subjects and lectures in this school are inadequate and most of the teachers are unfit for their duties. 3~ 4. omment: It should be noted that all students and teachers of the school are Party members and that the school is the former "Diplomataka Skola'.', which was a part of the Higher Party School in Belgrade.
