On 19 May 1954, the DOSO (Dobrovolna Organizateiya za Sudeyatvie na Otbranata; Voluntary Organization for Defense Assistance) and the DSNM (Dimitxovski Suy= na Narodnata Mladezh; Dimitrov Union of the People's Touth) unite of a quarter in Sofia organized an evening for the "donabornitsi'" (young men who are about to be called up). 2. On 20 May 1954, about 50 young mart who had'been called to the colors and were joining their unit boarded a train in Sofia leaving in the direction of Burgas. 3. On 23 May 1954, the Plovdiv garrison allegedly included a certain number of soldiers who had been called up very recently. 4. On 22 May 1954, about 20 soldiers were released from military service at the b arracks of the Headquarters of 1 Army. These men belonged to a guard detach- ment of the area with an average strength of about 50 men. It has been officially confirmed that the release of a large portion of the class of 1931 took place between 22 and 25 May 1954 and probably affected the first contingent called up in May 1951. Comment: The evenings for "Donabornitsir generally precede call-ups. Others were reported on 24 April 1954. It has been confirmed that a portion of a class was called up in May 1954; this is probably the second contingent of the 1934 class. As to releases, they must concern at least the first con- tingent of the class of 1931, which had been called up in May 1951.
