vicinity of Pasewalk had gone. 3
4. A locomotive brigade organized in ; fusterr..ark and stationed in
Frankfurt/Ocfer was deactivated in mid-June, Four of the
locomotives of this brigade returned to Wustermark, the
remainder remained in Frankfurt/O,'er or were lent out to the
Poles. All the Gerr^an personnel of the locomotive brigade
returned to Wusterr,ark.. 3
Comment. Halle is the RBD which handles the heaviest
volume of traffic in the GDR, The information indicates that
the traffic situation,, apart from temporary difficulties,
was favorable during the reported period.
2=It Comment. The pool of reserve freight cars is scheduled
o consist of a total of 10,000 units including 3,500 boxcars,
4,500 gondola cars, and 2,000 flatcars. This reserve is to be
formed by 31 August 1954.
3. ]Cornaent. The deactivat:.on of German locomotive Columns
operating for the Soviets through Poland is well known. All
locomotive brigades have been deactivated and most of their
equipment and all of their personnel have been returned to
their home stations. Seventy to eighty locomotives lent by
the GDR railroad administration to Fbland .regain in Polish hands.
