Development of a small and a big MUSA (multiple unit steerable antenna) installation, which in 1953 had been under way in Department TEE of Funkwerk Koepenick, was discontinued in 1954 because of lack of funds and of a skilled supervisor of the development. In 1953, the project had been supervised by G. Hintze who later was made chief of Department TEL% In early June 1954, the "USA development was resumed in Deoartr.uent I-,"] with Ind. Stumpff (fnu) in charge of direct supervision. 2. The development of the antennae for the L.-USA project has been carried out in Department TEA under Dr. Erich Schuettloeffel. At the end of 1953, the antenna for the small LTUSA installation was completely built, whereas the one for the big ''.'USA installation was not yet under construction. Construc- tion of this antenna is now being" carried out in Department TEA. 3tumpff, in Department TEE, is now entraged in improving the receiver for the small -'USA installation, construction of which was completed by the end of 1953. The 1953 model was provided with an installation for hand retuning, which is to be replaced in 1954 by automatic phase retuning.
