Bischoff as head of the Development De artment t C l Z p a ar eiss VEB Optik, Jena. He, Dipl. Ing. Bielmeyer and Dr. Straubel, the latest returnees from Russia, form the development department. In April 1954, the USSR placed large orders for theodolites, oscillographs, mirror alva t g nome ers, Toeppler Schlieren devices, and interferometers at Zeiss. The exact amount of these orders is not known. The production of lenses, measuring devices, microscopes, etc., has had to be greatly curtailed because of interference in the West market outlets by Carl Zeiss Oberkochen. It is hoped to fill this vac am in production by the manu- facture of a Volkskamera (Spiegelreflex)! 15 000 of this t e f o camera are scheduled to be ' J produced in 1954. So far, however, the plans are still on the drawing board. 4. The management of VEB Carl Zeiss, Jena, is awaiting the outcome of its suit concerning the use of the Carl Zeiss trademark against Zeiss,Oberkochen, which is being tried in Stuttgart. Be The manufacture of this new camera would require an extensive plant reorganisation.
