20 In 1951, the Poles started the reconstruction of the plants By late May 19538,
3 workshops had been reconstructed and the remaining 2 were still under
reconstruction. Three of the workshops were surrounded by a high brick wail, and
quartering facilities for forced laborers were constructed within this area.
Skilled workers such as brick layers, mechanics, lathe hands, electricians,,
automobile mechanics, etc., were mainly quartered there.
3o A total of 5,000 workers were employed on the reconstruction of the plant. The
civilian workers lived in cantonuents located between the plant and Jeltech,
