Stores held at these depots included pharmaceutical and metallurgical products
(ferrousane nonferrous), chemicals, paper, timber, raw and manufactured
rubber (including ti--?-'s), leather, cotton and building materials. Food
reserves, which are administered independently, are not stored in these depots.
2. It is planned to spend 300,000 DME during 1954 on reconditioning the buildings
of the above storehouses for nonidible reserves. Of this sum, 90,000 DME
have been allotted to Niederau, 29,000 DME to Ostritz, 25,000 DME to Leipzig I.
and the remainderyin porportion,to the other locations.
3. Coal, coke and mineral oils are still held at one or two of the above depots,
but these stocks are in the process of transfer to the normal distribution
agencies (Deutsche Handelszentrale, Derunapht, Deutscher Schiffahrts-und
Umschlagbetrieb) where they will be he11 at a restricted number of depots
under the indirect control of the State Secretariat, as followss-

A central oil storage depot under direct control is, however, planned at
Berlin -Adlershof, Koepenickerstr 1, and negotiations are now in progress to
take this over from the East Berlin City Municipal Authority. All other
indirectly controlled depots (the so-called "Fremdlagert1) will be given.up
by 31 May 1954.
4. Returns made on 30 April 1954 showed the following stocks held by DHZ-KM/Derunapht
or their subsidiary units:-

Schwerin is scheduled to issue 4,280 tons of motor gasoline and 1,850 tons of
Diesel during the period 1 Jan - 30 June 1954 on behalf of the State Secretariat.
The following quantaties of coal were distributed the D.S.U. on behalf of
the State Secretariat during the period 1 J nuary - 31 March 1954:-

Dresden 5,980 tons
Riesa 57,615 tons
Dessau 59267 tons
Barby 5,511 tons
Magdeburg 5.035 tons
82,946 tons
This was 106% of the original plan, laid down at 77,701 tons. In the same period,
6,981 tons of coke were distributed (against a planned figure of 21,000 tons),
1,534 tons of paper (plan 1,475 tons), 1,346 m3 of railroad ties (plan 1,200 m3),
and 10,000 tons of building materials (as planned).
6. The following stocks of tires were held by the State Secretariat on 1 January 1954:-

These were held at Tangen rice Niederau and Gornsdorf.
7. In April 1954, the State Secretariat purchased 500 grams of crystal insulin
from abroad for a price of 100,000 DM. It is planned to purchase a tot a'tw
ing 1954.
8. Attached Appendix "A" is a sketch map showing the distribution of depots under
the control of the State Secretariat as of May 1954, and Appendix "B" is'a
table showing the organization of the office in Berlin, as of the same date.
