,1. June production at the steel mill (Stahlwerk)amounted tc 45,400 metric toss; June
production at the rolling mill ,(Walzwerk) amounted to 21,300 metric tons.
2. The large decrease in the production of the steel mill (May 1954 production was
67,100 metric tons as opposed to June's production of 45,400 metric tons) was
caused by the breakdown of the Siemens-Martin furnaces. On 18 June 1954, another
Siemens-Martin furnace bro~e down, making-`a total of four that were in need of
extensive repairs. The cause of the breakdown was the collapse of the roof
(Gewoelbe) of the furnace.
1 Comment. A previous report from source that May production for the
ro ng m 11 was 27,500 metric tons is erroneous. Production for May is now
