Secs. 793 Zeiss Jena Trade and Trade Negotiations DATE DISTR. with Poland NO. OF PAGES REQUIREMENT c. Burger (fnu), a Zeiss specialist temporarily assigned to DIA, specializing in fine measurement devices. Under the 195+ East German-Polish-Trade Agreement, 900,000 rubles are slated for Polish purchases of Zeiss-type instruments and equipment which have not yet been ordered, and the mission of the technician-salesmen is to, prevail on the Polish authorities to place their orders for at least this amount, (NOTE: Washington distribution indicated by "X"; Field distribution by "#".) THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1. At the beginning of July 1954, the Polish Trade Delegation in East Berlin placed a tentative order for from 40 to 50 units of 35 mm. motion picture projectors for early delivery. 2. In August 1951, the following DIA and Zeiss Jena technician-salesmen are scieduled to travel to Warsaw,, to negotiate further sales of Zeiss instruments, escially precision mechanical and measuring equipment: a. Kurt Schmid, in charge of d 'ical sales to the Satellites. b. Hasse (fnu), an optician and expert on motion picture and motion picture projector equipment.
