Comment. The Panzerjaeger Kaserne in Spremberg quarters the

1. In July 1954, it was determined that a. total of 210 million eastmarks
were to be spent for KVP construction projects in 1955. The sum was to
be broken down as follows: 134 million for KVP army, 51 million for
KVP air force and 25 million for KVP navy. Twenty-eight millions
were hudgeted for buildings'of the,KVP Department with the Ministry of
the Interior in the Strausberg area and 30 million for officers' billets
in the GDR. Two corps repair shops were to be built in Erfurt and
Drocgeheide and 17 troop workshops and a total of 1,200 garages at
other posts. Gasproof rooms were to be established in all barracks
installations.1
.2. A barracks installation was to be constructed opposite the Panzerjaeger
Kaserne in Spremberg. Fift';en low temporary buildings with a quartering
capacity of 960 men were to be constructed for the medium tank regiment
under Major Jung (fnu) by 1 November. A barracks installation was to
be built subsequently. The costs were calculated as follows: about
3 million easbraa^ks for the first construction stage in 1954, about
4 million eastmarks for the second construction stage in 1955 and
about 4 million eastmarks for the third construction stage in 1956.2
3. A large ammunition depot was being established in Gorgast west of
Kuestrin.3
At a conference hold in the innzistry of the Interior on 29 July,
it was agreed that Bauunions Sued and Kueste would be merged. The
new. organization was to be put in full charge of future military
construction projects.

The construction of an addition bai-racks installation indicates that
these units will be reinforced.
