2. Vessels we're identical; ',each hats .one ,gun .on the foredeck and a signal, mast
on the`al~'tar sage, of the 'b~~3,ge. On the mast there was a crow's nest and yardarm as
well as'~ Decca-type radar screen. The deckhouse extended from the bridge to? ?
ward the stern. Amidships there was a slanting stack with a blue ring. There
was one?gun on the afterdeck and a davit on the stern frame. Each ship was
equipped with two lifeboats.
3? Vessel ~~was somewhat smaller than the above-mentioned vessels..r?It had
guns ;on the foredeck, a signal mast on the after edge of the bridge, a low deck-
house or enclosure around the stack, and a low afterdeck with two davits on the
stern frame. On the after edge?of the deckhouse amidships there was a large
covered with canvas. Red and green paravanes lay on the deck. Vessel
was the same type but it did mt have a dLVm on the after edge of
the deckhouse.

with a short mast, and ..the stack was higher than the bridge. On the deck there
were some red-painted crates of various sizes partly. covered with tarpaulins.

6. At 0850 hours a naval vessel was passed at Shepelev Island.
It had one gun on the foredeck, a small as erne an a~ ridge
w a woo n mast on which there was a crowts nest, a radar screen, and a
direction .finder. The midships superstructure was connected to the bridge.
The ship had one stack, and-there were two davits on the stern frame. The vessel
had two floats out from the stern but no paravanes were vi signal

yellow flags. The distance between the stakes was one-half nautical mile.

8. At 09+5 hours a small guard boat was observed tied to a buoy at the lightship. It had
pennant ~. It had a short mast on the bridge and guns qn the afterdeck.
On the bridge there was an egg-shaped, gray-painted dome on a short mast which was
about oneihalf meter high.
9? At 0950 hours a naval vessel with pennant ~ on itsway
out to sea at a speed of'approximately 20 knots. The ship had guns on the~~i'ore-
deckr a bridge with a straight mast, a slanting stacks four antiaircraft gone
in a line along the afterdecks a flush deck, and davits on the .stern frame.
10. ~As ~~ ship passed Kn~aat 1ti0 ~,~ t~~owing naval vessels were observedY
a. The .OK'I'YABRSItAYA REVOLYUTSIYA and a larger naval vessel lay moored to buoys
outside the naval harbor. This vessel had a turret with three gun barrels on '
the foredecks a bridge with a high circular ~:to~rex'~r a masts and a square
stack with~an extension which slanted towaxd the deck at the forwaxd edge.
On the top of the stack there were several vertical pipes; smoke was seen --
rising ,from one of the pipes. The ship also had a mast astern of the stackx a
superstructures a turret with two gun barrels: and a .turret with three gun
barrels. Two cranes were located amidships. The afterdeck was low and rounded
off along the sides. The vessel had no visible name
