RD 25X1 REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) A reduction in the cadre and ranks of the People's Militia was decreed by the Rumanian Government in line with the present econoiv drive. The re- duction is reported to amount to 50 percent. 2. In Bucharest the Militia was reduced from 20,000 to 12,000 members. The discharged men were sent to their places of origin in the provinces where they are free to enter any profession or trade they prefer. 3.
