RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) 1. On 5 July 1954) a 3,000-ton warship painted a light grey was heading south off Foochow. 2. On 6 July the following vessels were at Shanghai: a. Two Chinese Communist warships, one 1,500 tons and the other 2,500 tons. The 2,500-ton vessel had two funnels and carried a 5-inch gun at the bow and the stern, a 3-inch gun on each side of the bow gun, and two 3-inch guns on each side of the stern gun. b. Seven motor boats, each armed with a small gun at the bow and two at the stern. c. One single-funnel, 1,500-ton warship, armed with a 3-inch gun at the bow and at the stern. d. One 2,000-ton landing craft painted dark grey. e. Two LST's'. f. One 2,000-ton freighter. g. One 2,500-ton freighter.
