In early September 1954 Chinese Communist authorities were drafting civil .a,n laborers to repair the highway from Shihshih (N 24-44., E 118-38) t':f~:y_`,,, N -4 ~O E 118 J0. From 23006 on 6 October to 090OZ on 7 October the Chinese Uommunista hold r. tillery and machine gun live firing practice from Amoy to Shihching (N 224-38., r ]'_!8_26), Approximately 300 rounds of artillery were fired. 0-r.8 and 9 October there was a lull in activity in the Chinmen-Amoy areas with cnJy sporadic shelling of various points on Chinmen. Because of strong winds and high seas Chinese Communist junk traffic in the area was nil. 4. On 1.0 October sporadic shelling of Little Chinmen continued; approximately tounds were fired.
