1. About 200 airmen are billeted in barracks located in the former. Minion castle
in the center of the town (N 50-39, E 14-44). The two-story building, 150 x 20
meters, is surrounded on the south and north by a wall four meters high and
on the east by the Ploucnice River, The airmen billeted in these barracks are
taken to Minion Airfield daily by bus.
2. Infantry barracks consisting of two buildings surrounded by a wire fence four
meters high are located in the southwest outskirts of the town. About 200 men,
equipped with rifles and submachine guns, are billeted there,
3, North of the airforce barracks on the northeast outskirts of the town a site
about 250 meters square has been chosen for officers' quarters. Construction
of these buildings started in the spring of 1952, with work carried out by
members of an auxiliary technical battalion, By March 1953 seven bungalows,
each designed to accommodate five or six families, had been completed. Accord-
ing to local hearsay, further houses were to be built. Construction was carried
out by Posista,'National Enterprise.
4. Reconstruction of the Mimon railroad station began in the fall of 1952. Work is
carried out by Posista. About 130 men work on the site. The railroad line
which branches off the main line west of the present Minion station and leads to
the former railroad station on the other side of the town is mainly used by the
army for the transport of tanks and guns to the army testing grounds northeast
of the former Minion railroad station. About 15 tanks monthly which come to
Minion from the Skoda Worksl are transported by rail to the testing site. The
tanks are accompanied by both military and civilian personnel.
