RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) Arm Fuel Depot at Slapannoov 1. An army fuel depot is located northwest of Slapanov (N 49=32, E 15-40) in the southwest corner of a woods extending from the Hochtanov hill. It is not visible from the edges of the woods. The whole wooded promontory is protected by a barbed-wire fence with notices of warning not'to enter the area. 2. The construction of the depot was started in 1950 and-was finished in 1952. A new road and a railroad line were built to connect the site with the Slapanov railroad station, and six metal tanks 20 meters long.and 2.5 meters in diameter which had been stored since 1951 at the Slapanov railroad station then were transported by rail to the site. Ar~Fuel Depot at Halenkov 3. The army fuel depot at Halenkov (N 49-19, E 18-09) was constructed in 1938. Small repairs and maintenance have been carried out, but no new buildings have been added since then. 4. The fuel depot is located south of the Valasske Mezirici - Vsetin - Karlovicel railroad line on the eastern edge of Halenkov. The site extends for 350 meters alongside the railroad line between the Halenkov railroad station and the Vsetin - Karlovicel road. The site is fenced off and looks from the outside like an orchard. 5. Small concrete pillboxes one meter high, 0.75 meter long, and 0.5 meter wide, can be seen from outside. The pillboxes are at a distance of 25 meters from each other in about six rows. Under each pillbox there is a fuel tank. Each tank has an estimated capacity of 20,000 liters. The fuel tanks are locked and mines are laid under them. 6. The depot is guarded by six soldiers from a detachment billeted in Karlovicel.
