1. In August it was planned to begin the production of Nitropenta, a highly
explosive material, at the VEB Sprengstoffwerk, located at Gnaschwitz
near Bautzen. The blueprints for the construction of this installation
are being drawn by the Central Construction Office in Berlin.
2. This explosive Nitropenta will be used as:
a) filling for as p e ules (detonators);
b) self-destroying shot for armor-piercing shells; and
c) in conjunction with nitrocellulose as the propellent
charge for shells with a high muzzle velocity.

Also, construction of the installation for the manufacture of
trinitrotoluol at Schoenebeck is being resumed. This construction
was halted after 17 June 1953. The total cost of this construction
amounts to approximately 18,000,000 WE,
