The following air activity and aircraft were observed at Puetnitz airfield between 3 August and 1 October 1954: 3 August. MiG-15s or 1L. iG-.15s practiced flying in elements of two. Two elements were observed between 1000 and 1200 and 10 elements between 1600 and 1800. 5Au ust.' between 0930 and3100, take-offs were made by three individual jet fighters and two elements of two, letween 1600 and 1800, five take-off were performed by elements of two jet fighters. 7 Augusts Air activity was heard but no details could be identified. 9 _to 11 August, No aircraft were seen aloft. 22 du ust. Between 1600 and 1900, a r1G-15 towing a sleeve target and three elements of two jet fighters took offs 1.4-August, Seven individual jet fighters took off between 0830 and 0930, 17 Au rust. Five individual take-offs were mcde by jet fighters between 0800 and 0840 take-offs in elements of two were performed between 0930 and 113.0? 19 August? Three MIG-15s or U-YiG-15s indivldually took off between 0810 and 0835. 20 August, One MIG_l5 or U-11G-15 was seen taking off. 21. to 23 August. No air activity was observed. The weather was unfavorable, 24 August,, Between 0815 and 1200, eight individual take-offs were made by jet fighters and 13 take-offs in elements of two, At 0832, a formation of 12 jet fighters crossed over the field heading northeast. At 0845, another formation of 14 aircraft crossed, flying in the same direction, A third formation of eight jet fighters was observed at 0855, The three formations flew at an altitude of about 4,000 meters. beginning at 0930, the aircraft of these formation landed individually,. During the afternoon beginning at 1330, the same air activity was observed as during the morning? 13 6eptember. Between 1925 and 2123, 19 take-offs were made by MG-15s or T3,4,iG-15e with set position lights. The first aircraft landed at 1940 and the last at 2158, 1 October. A Li -2 crossed over the field flying from east to west. 3- 2. Letween 1700 and 1900 on 4 September, firing at towed sleeve targets was practic- ed along the Faitic Sea coast not far from Wustrow, near Ribnitz;p on the Darns. The jet fighter which towed the sleeve tarr-et flew parallel to the sea.? shore, shuttling in southwest and northeast direction. The attacks were made by jet fighters flying in elements of two. It is believed that Puetnitz airfield is still occupied "by a f:"ighter division headquarters and two fighter regiments. The observed air activity including flying in large formations corresponds with the status of training during the fall of the preceding years.
