On 26 October, the 25X1 first group of 65 soldiers were discharged home. The personnel with their luggage left in three trucks, allegedly to Potsdam. Since 30 October, an additional 370 men were seen outside the barracks installation. As reported previously, this detail has been preparing for an inspection or parade for weeks. On 29 October, this detail made a final rehearsal in the barracks area. The personnel were lined up in a horse-shoe type arrangement. Ninety of the soldiers wore parade uniform and were armed with carbines, while the remaining personnel wore sports gear. A flag of blue and yellow beam-like stripes, presumably the regimental flag was seen in the center of this horse-shoe. On the front side of the horseshoe 16 additional flags of various colors were seen. It was believed that these flags were those of the republics of the USSR. A high-rankin officer who arrived at the barracks installation in sedan nspected the detail. It was learned from Colonei .vanov nu that the soldiers were to'participate in a parade at Wuensdorf. On the morning of 30 October, the detail was no longer seen at Doeberitz. Aside from these preparations, instructions and manual training were held daily. Fifteen to 20 groups of 6 to 8 newly arrived recruits were dail seen drilling 1 Four newly arrived trucks 25X1 ENCLOSURES (No. & TYPE) This is UNEVALUATED _1 25X1 i 25X1 -1 25X1 X1 December 1951. 1. The following observations were made at the Richthofen Kaserne in Doeberitz between 26 October and 3 November 1954: ere again seen. On 3 November, about 310 perscnnel were 25X1 discharged home. The 370 personnel participating in the parade had not returned from Wuensdorf that day.l 2. No activities were observed at Loeberitz airfield. The small training aircraft were not seen. Since 27 October, no noise has been heard from the two test stands. Only the buildings just south of Hamburger Chaussee were lighted daily. An electrician said that lathes and other workshop equipment were loca-Ad in these buildings. The NSKK Kaserne was apparently still occupied to capacity. It could not be determined whether other recruits than the 170 who were reported previously had arrived at the barracks installation or whether soldiers had been discharged. Only physical training was observed in the yard of the installation. Groups of 8 to 10 men were repeatedly seen marching from the barracks to the fiel(d.1 Between 1000 and 1100 on 31 October, no aircraft were parked at the field. The doors of the hangars were closed. The field appeared to be unoccupied. Between 1600 and 1700 on 1 November, a twin-engine aircraft was parked in'front of the hangar west of the flight control station. The PKV 45 D/F station had been removed from its previous location west of the Wustermark-Priort railroad line. No other radio installations were seen at the field. A sentry wearing red-bordered black epaulets and armed with a submachine gun was posted on the watchtower in the northwestern corner of the field. Motor vehicle ith driver wearing black-bordered blue 25X1 epaulets proceeded from the direction of Dyrotz to the field.3 5. The Richthofen Kaserne in Doeberitz appeared to be fully occupied. There was the usual traffic between the quartering buildings. About 80 unarmed soldiers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets marched in the direction of Richthofen Kaserne on the footpath which joins Hamburger Chaussee between the airfield and Adler Kaserne. A sentry . wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and armed with 'a carbine was posted at the entrance to Richthofen Kaserne. Truck with driver wearing black-bordered blue epaulets proceeded from the barracks installation in the direction of Elstal. 6. On 30 October, soldiers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and air force insignia entered and left the barracks installations and quartering buildings west of Richthofen Kaserne. About 80 percent-of the windows of the quartering buildings were seen lit at 1900.1 . Between 28 October and cks all of them with drivers and assistant drivers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets were seen at the field and at the air force barracks installations. 25X1 LZDAI 7. Between 0900 and 1200 on 30 October, truck as seen 25X1 in front of Adler Kaserne and trucks and 25X1 all of them with drivers wearing black-bordered blue 25X1 epaulets, were seen at the field.2 Comment. The exchange of personnel of the units stationed in 'the arracks installations at Doeberitz appears to be completed. According to available information, about 1,000 recruits arrived 25X1 and about 850 soldiers were discharged home there. Truck was previously observed at Doeberitz. Doeberitz airfield is not occupied by a flying unit. The- KV 45 D'F station had been erected at the field then. a ground attack unit was stationed at the field during fall maneuvers.
