The alumina plant of the Hungarian .Soviet Bauxite-Aluminum Enterprise (Maszobal) in Alm sfuezit8 is situated approximately 9 km. east of KomArom, 1 km. west- northwest of the.station in AlmAafuezitr, and between, the highway Budapest-?Vienn;. and the Danube. Most of the plant was built between 1942 to 1944; in 1947 further construction was started and the plant was completed in 1953. 2. Before 1944, the plant was a German,Hungarian enterprise; after 1945, it passed into Hungarian-soviet ownership. 3. Railroad tracks lead from the Almaafuezit8 station to the plant. The pliant has its own electric power station. 4. The plant consists of the following operations sections: Crushing plant; leachinc plant; stirring apparatus and alumix.um hydrate filter; calcining section; dust removal through electric filter section; lye dissolving section; chemical laboraa_~? control section and gas generator section. Ten to sixteen carloads of bauxiteaobtained from the surrounding area, are deliver,' to the plant daily. The alumina produced is then packed in 50-kg.bags and shi >c by rail to the Aluminum Plant in Tata.banya. The head of the Maezobal enterprise to which the plants in Ajka and Mosonma;yardvtr also belong,,., is ?''aynov (fnu). He.speaks only Russian and supposedly was formerly a career soldier. 7. The plant employs approximately 500 persons, who work in three shifts. Their worT is highly mechanized. it spring of 1953, Czech workers were used, to assemble the boilers for the pohcr station and for the calcining station. ,The plant is guarded by two guards at the entrances and by watch patrols. Electric power plant: 50 x 35 in., chimney 52 in. high; contains six, BW boilers of 12 atmospheres absolute pressure and a chain grate and 2 steam turbines producing 12,000 kw. together. 26. 'Red mud, extending over an area of 10O X 50 m. 27. Pier on the tube with a depot 10 x 10 m. 28. Pumping station: 10 x 8 m.; one-story building 29. Wire fence, 3 in. high, reinforced by concrete columns, encircles the plant as far as the Danube, has'watch-Mowers every 200 in. 30. Air-raid shelter: 15 x,8 m.
