REMARKS
1. On 19 October 1954, trucks with engineer and billeting equipment were
seen en route between the Seeckt Kaserne (5287) in Magdeburg and the
Driedrichstadt railroad station. At 2100, 30 trucks with sections of
steel pontoons were seen on a train at the railroad station. Additional
small columns were seen reams for entraining.
At 0730 on 20 October, loadings
continued at the railroad station. At 1900, only a few windows of the 25X1
installation were lighted.
2. At about 1050 on 12 October, a column of 27 trucks with TAT-type pontoons,
3 crane trucks, 3 six-wheel amphibious vehicles, 6 trucks with beams and

IThe approximately 80 trucks with TMP-type pontoons and the
six-wheel amphibious vehicles previously seen were no longer in the barracks
area on 25 October. On this day, the installation was occupied by
approximately 700 soldiers wearing black-bordered black epaulets. 1
3. On 12 October, it was determined that a section of the Zuckerbusch Kaserne
5-288 in Magdeburg had been separated. This section had a billeting capacity
of approximately 1,ooo soldiers. dischargees 25X1
were assembled there prior to their departure to the USSR and that all
soldiers who had served more than 3 years were to be discharged. On 25
October, a train of 39 boxcars occupied by troops went from Magdeburg-Brueck-
-feld toward Biederitz. After the departure of the train, the camp in the
Zuckerbusch Kaserne was only lightly occupied.
4. Between 13 and 26 October, the Flak Kaserne (5282) in Magdeburg was occupied
by approximately 1,000 soldiers wearing red-bordered black epaulets. Eighteen
trucks towing 18 x 85-mm AT guns were seen in the yard. The AAA emplacement
east of the athletic field was unoccupied. Motor vehicles 25X1
were seen entering an eaving 25X1

Comment. On 3 October, the bulk of the 36th Pon Bridge Regt
of the GSFG had returned from the maneuver of the Third Shock Army.
On 12 October, raer elements of the regiment
presumably returned to .eir uarters from their employment area on the
Elbe River. The loading on 19/20 October presumably involved the bulk,
of the regiment which possibly left for other exercises, presumably
special engineer exercises.
2. (Comment. The camp in the Zuckerbusch Kaserne probably was an
assembly point for dischargees of the Third Shock Army.
3 Comment. The AT guns are believed to belong to the heavy AT
regiment of the 20th Army AT Arty Brig which was probably also
stationed.in the Flak Kaserne prior to the summer training period.
According to the strength estimate, not all components of the 3d
Gds AAA Div and elements of the 19th Gds Mecz Div believed stationed in
the installation Lhad returned to their quarters prior to 26 October.
4 Comment. Not all units of the 19th Gds Mecz Div had returned to
their installation prior to 26 October. Light elements may have still
been stationed in the Letzling Heath.
:: Comment. The Hindenburg Kaserne is believed to be
previously by the 105th Sig Regt of the Third Shock Army.
