At 1630 hours on 9 September 195~+~while (ship. was en route to
Leningrad, five naval vessels were observed in the channel north of Tallinn.

6. There were ten or twelve red buoys arranged in pairs in a row near a little
island south of Kronshtadt. An MTB sailed-back and forth between the rows,
and a tugboat lay at anchor nearby. A similar arrangement of buoys was also
seen on the other side of the island.
7. Tn the onshtadt.harbor are a cruiser-like vessel
as well as three large submarines, a medium sized subma , d
five small su marines. A large floating dock and a'nava1 vessel painted with
red-lead were observed in Kronshtadt harbor.
8. On the evening of 10'Se tember while ship was at the pier in Lenin-
grad, a large submarine came through the channel. The sub-
marine had a double-barreled gun forward of the turret and three antiaircraft
guns built into the after end of the turret. The submarine was completely smooth
on both decks, and it did not have any platforms.
9. On 11 September, a vessel with a large crane-like installation on the bow was
observed. The deck of the vessel was flat with a small deckhouse on it. The
vesse first held a westerly course but then
turned and proceeded toward-Kronshtadt.
