Since November 1954 block committees in Lodz have been conducting civil defense and first-
aid courses for the older (sic) residents of the city. Old wartime air raid bunkers are
being restored and cleaned. Air raid warning sirens are being repaired and tested. In
the first week of December 1954, an air raid drill was carried out in the large center
section of Lodz.
Comment. According to two other reports, civil defense training was started in
mid-1954 in Poland. The above is routine procedure and confirms the previous reports.
