Between 0800 and 1430 on 9 November 19-5-4, 4 MiG-15s, 3 Il-28s and 3 Li-2s were observed at Bad Voeslau airfield. There was a 10/1C overcast at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, a northwesterly wind of about 8 km/h, ground fog with a visibility range of up to about 400 meters prior to 1100 and good visibility over the entire field after 1100. No air activity was conducted. 2. Between 1310 and 1320 on 12 November, 4 MiG-15s, 3 I1-28s and 3 Li-2s were observed at Bad Voeslau airfield. A row of 6 searchlights was being newly established in the northeastern section of the field. The individual searchlights were about 20 meters apart. The lighting facilities along the NNE-SSE take-off strip were reinfroced by additional lamps. The searchlights were similar to those previously observed in Wiener Neustadt and Deutsch Wagram. 3. The following observations were made in the Bad Voeslau military post on 9 November: 50X1-HUM Gainfarn Castle. The installation was arded by sentries wearing black- bordered blue epaulets. Van-like truck and the latter with driver wearing black-bordered blue epaulets were parked in front of the entrance. 50X1-HUM No 25 Hoch Strasse. There motor vehicles were Barked under the lean-to roof. No 11 Gainfarn Strasse. The installation seemed to be unoccupied. No 12 Wiener Neustaedter Strasse. A lieutenant and 2 majors all wearing b ue-bordered blue epaulets entered the building. There were several telephone lines between the building and Voeslau Castle. Voeslau Castle. The installation was guarded by sentries wearing black- bordered blue epaulets. Two trucks and 2 radio trucks were parked in the yard. Vehicular traffic observed included jeep with drive:50X1-H U M wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. CLASSIFICATION SECRET Villa Dorothea. Soldiers wearing black-borderd blue epaulets, including some with bandages, were seen entering and leaving the installation. The exact occupation of Bad Voeslau airfield cannot be 50X1-HUM determined from recent reports. It is possible that the WiC-15s and I1-28s were used as training aircraft by Hq Fifty-Ninth Air Army and that the Li-2s belong to a transport unit.
