Berlin-Gruenau. It epnsisted of about 20 officers and NCOs who
included Lieutenant ?Coloner Niche~is (fnu), head of the flub,
who was n former technical-"sergeant; Erich Krueger, deputy of
Lieutenant Colonel ,~fchelis, w! was a21to a foriier technical
serCeent? and L?ieute-ant Colonel Rueckert (fnu), organization,

3. In late October, Colo el Zettle.r (fnu) iaid?,he headed. the political
department of the UP headquarters and was not a member of the sta?f
of the political administratio . H~s deputy-was Lieutenant Colonel
Friedrich (fnu) whosO office was lgcatefi on the second floor of
building P?o 4, Section I a, Strausberg'airfield.2 The second and
third floors of building I!o 4 also housed Administration IX which
was concerned with road and railroad construction. Room No 340 was
occupied by the chief of t'-is administration, Lieutenant Colonel
Watzdorf (fnu).3
4. Supplementary information on tie occupation of buildings nos 6 a,
b and c revealed that' buildingNo 6 a also hosed the Central
Manuals Administration (?) and the offices of Major General
Bechler (fnu) which were located on the second floor. Room No 224
in building No 6 b' was occupied by Colonel Boehme (fnu), 2d Deputy
of ?,aior General Doi ling, and room 100 on the first floor of building
No 6 c was occupied,by Major Ruehlmann (fnu). An adjacent room was used
by a Soviet adviserr4

project at Strrusberg airfield ?'es scheduled to be completed
on 21 December 1954. Rooms Nos 2C4 End 'C5 on the second flior of
th. s bvi 1c'ng were to be occuried by the Soviet adviser to,
Lieuter.ei t Gener~^1 Nof#martn, wvhi le rooms :'oe 206 and :'C7 ere to
be used as accommodations for Lieutenant Cener l IIoffviann, and
room to 20' was a conference room.6

the airfield was about 110 cars a day. -n incoming shipment contained
the first rails for the extension of the c:.ty railroad line as far
as the airfield.
