THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION
2- In e'ri y 1.954., the do>bl a-trade Reuthen-Opnein -Brockau railroad line was
in good condition. A coaling station was located in Beuthen, and a water
station in Groschowitz and Brieg, Locomotives took, on water and t.oal in 25X1
Brockft an3 water either in Ohlau or Brieg and at Groschowitz.
2, The double-track Bsuthen--Gleiwitz-Heydebreck line was in good cord tion,.
A coaling and water station was located at Hsydebreck.
The single-track -roschotfitz.Heydebreek--Ratihor-R,.uderswald line was in good
condition. R?derswald, a small installation, served as a border station
for traffic to and from Czechc&ovak+a. A coaling and water station waa
located there. Trains operating into Czechoslovakia were strictly che::ked
at the border and then taken over by Czech railroad personnel and Czech
loeomotivel? There was little contact between Polish and Czech locomotive
engineers,
!., The double-track Beuthen-Karsznice main railroad line was in good condition
Tarnowitz and Karaznice were coaling and water stations on this line but,
could be taken on at Herby Nowe,
5. A single-track railroad line was built r~etween Zawiarc:ie and Kolechowic,
near Janie. The line was in good condition. A coaling :aid water station
was located at Zawiercie but only wate- could be taken on at Kolechowice>2
6~ The double-track Bauthen-Krzeszo=atce?.Mysl.),vr ce-Trzebinia main railroad
line was in good condition and had covn?ctions to Krakow, Traffic on this
line was hampered by the existence of t:ocdai, bridge about 600 meters past
Myslo,ev'--e in the direction of Szczekowa. A speed limit of 5 km per hour teas
in for-ce on this bridge. The line was provided with an electric switch

Trzebinia and only water at Krzeszowice,
7, The pay of Polish raiiroadmen was rather ppor compared to the wage rates
of industrial workers. For this reason them \fas a continuous shortage of
railroadmen, especially firemen for locomotives. A fireman earned about
19OCO Zloty per ..oath and was suppozed to ware: 240 c:ou s but he usually 25X1
:gad to work 300 to 320 hours. For this reason there was widespread
