No air activity was observed at Brandis airfield between 27 October and 15 November, except on 30 October when aDC-3 landed at 1030 and 25X1 took off toward the southwest at about 1150. The crossing of some jet aircraft was seen and heard. On 11 and 12 November, one I1-10 crossed over the field. No aircraft were parked .or the landing field and the interior 25X1 2. Unloading operations continued aft of ha.:gar No 6, where a total of 14 railroad cars were unloaded during the period of observations. Lifting gears were mostly used. Among other unidentified material 4 steam rollers and 2 carloads of concrete arrived. 2 25X1 about 600.men wearing black-bordered had allegedly arrived by train on 21'and.22 October. because almost all of them were young and had close cropped hair. about 180 men wearing b3aak -bordered blue epaulets and arranged in individual groups practiced lying down and getting up on the landing field on 28 October. They blue epaulets arrived by rail during the night of 26/27 October. The total number of arrivals after 21 October amounted to about 750 men all with black-bordered blue epaulets. It was believed that the arrivals were. recruits. on 15 November, about 45 men wearing black.-bordered blue epaulets were 25X1 engaged in drilling under the co::,.mand of an officer. Only basic infantry training was done. The ground attack regiment which has been re-trained 25X1 on MUG-15s has not yet returned to Brandis. It is believed that the regiment is still located at Alt Loennewitz and Finsterwalde airfields. The newly arrived soldiers are apparently recruits. omment. It has not been determined which type of material is 25X1 continuously being unloaded in Brandis. It is assumed, however, that runty mats arrived because the 2,000-meter runway must be extended in connection with the re-equipment with MiG-15s.
