OF PAGES 1 REQUIREMENT NO. RD REFERENCES THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. (FOR KEY SEE REVERSE) the Victoria Factory located at Calan, Rumania, near Hunedoara. Several new buildings were constructed in Calan for the factory workers to live in. Approximately 2,500 people were employed in the factory, working in three 8-hour shifts daily. In late 1953 soldiers from labor battalions were sent to Calan to work in the factory. 2. The Victoria Factory manufactures central heating installations, cooking stoves and other kitchen equipment, and sanitary installations. The central heating equipment is shipped to Bulgaria and the other products are shipped to Ferometal and other Rumanian state enterprises. 3. Electric power for the factory is supplied by the Hunedoara power plant. Transformers are located within the factory enclosure.
