On 8 December 1954, the barracks installation (3304) north of Drachhausen north of Cottbus was occupied by ap;.roximately 800 soldiers wearing red-bordered black epaulets predominantly with tank insi6-nia. ,,,our of the 7 new Garages were nearing completion. The vehicles which presumably were to be stored in the :;rages were parked nearby. 2 trucks with riotorboats, 6 ar;_.ored personnel carriers, which were covered by tarpaulins, and 1 repair shop truck with crane. Comment. Available information indicated that the installation north of Drachhausen was occupied exclusively by the 80th Gds Hv,Taak ,gt of the 9th leech Div. 7 garages, 40 x 17.2 meters, worth 60,000 eastmarks, were to be built there. Construction work reportedly started on 9 November. The motor vehicles with engineer equipment which were observed there on 8 December, are believed to belong to the 82d Engr Bn of the 9th tech Div which has been believed to be stationed in the Sachsendorf Kaserne (3082) in Cottbus. It is possible that the engineer regiment will move to Drachhausen after the completion of the garages.
