1. On 9 September 1954, the following Soviet naval vessels were observed in
the Gulf of Finland:

Accompanied by five M-40-type
vessels on a southerly course in
position N 59-15, E 22-20.
9 September L0V-6~lass cruiser When first sighted, formation was on
L BKORYY--Class a westerly course at a speed of 20

were not lowered from spars but .iere
apparently fastened on deck. The wire

meters and appeared to hold a net
stretched below the ship.

a slightly inclined stem; a twin-barrel-

afterdeck; a pear-shaped radar set
mounted in front of the bridge; and
torpedo tubes resting on latticed gir-
ders on the port and starboard sides,
about two-thirds as long as the boat

one mast antenna on top of the wheel-
house; no armament; perches were laid
out (sic)..
18 September SVERDLOV-Class cruiser Sighted two nautical miles west of
Leningrad lightship; no longer moored 25X1
to a buoy ..by the stern but riding at
two anchors because of storm. The wire
ropes were still braced over the ship's
sides as on 13 September.
