The following air activity was observed at Grossenhain airfield between 11 and 30 November 19541 25X1 11 November. Between 0935 and 1325, individual MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s were seen flying at short intervals. The aircraft could only be observed up to an altitude of about 250 meters because of the poor visibility. Their landings were not seen. 12 to 16 November. No air activity was observed. 17 November. One MiG-15 or U-MiG-15 took off at 1208 and another at 1210. The aircraft disappeared in the clouds. There was a 7/10 overcast. Swept- -back jet aircraft took off at 1225 and 1227. 25X1 respectively. One aircraft each took off at 1232, 1236,, 1240, 1250 and 1300. All of the aircraft flew through the clouds. Their landings were not observed. Twelve MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s were counted on the landing field. 18 to 22 November. No air activity was observed. 23 November. One Mill-15 or U-MiG-15 each took off at 1100, 1102, 1105, 1109, 1130 and 1132. An element of two aircraft took off at 1135. No landings were observed. A MiG-15 or U-MiG-15 towing a sleeve target was seen at an altitude of about 1,000 meters. It was not observed if the Plane took off or landed at the field. A total of 22 MiG-15s or U-*iG-15s were parked on the landing field. All of the aircraft revetments seen were vacant. 24 to 30 November. No air activity was observed. 29 November. Four MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s including No 083 were parked on the alert site at the southeastern end of the runway. 30 November. Two swept-back jet fighters with their noses pointing to the south were parked next to the alert aircraft and 1 MiG-15 or U-MiG-15 was in front of the hangar with a cupola roof. A total of 12 swept-back jet fighters were parked on the landing field. At the beginning of .nightfall, the lighting facilities at the field were switched on. 1 2. The masts were interconnected by a wire fitted underneath the mastheads. From the middle of the wire another wire branched off. 2 On 30 November, 4 or 5 men were observed 9 7m*AAns in the AA gun emplacement. Only the heads of the soldiers could be seen. Comment. It is believed that Grossenhain airfield is still occupied by a fighter division headquarters and two fighter regiments. Only little air activity was observed. A total of 22 MiG-15s or U-MiG-l5swere counted on the landing field. Comment. A radio installation of 4 m*sts was previously observed 25X1 opposite the main guardhouse of the airfield.
