1. Between 0900 and 1200 on 27 November 1954, 29 MiG-15s, 2 Yak-lls 25X1
and 1 biplane were parked at Aspern airfield. There was no air
activity. There was a 10/10 overcast at an altitude of about 1,000
meters, southeasterly wind of about 10 km/h and good visibility to
500 meters, then haze. No activities were observed at the field. 25X1
All aircraft were covered by tarpaulins. The AL gun emplacements
were unoccupied.
2. Four tank trucks and 2 trucks were parked in the area of the western
fuel dump. Two signal trucks and van-like trailer were
parked next to the large temporary quartering building. There was
intensive traffic by officers and EM between the temporary building 25X1
and the flight control station, which was guarded by a sentry who wore
black-bordered blue epaulets. The following tracks were observed:
all three with drivers
wearing black-bordered blue epaulets Rkand van-like 25X1
trucks both of which were occupied by 25X1
personnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and red-bordered
black epaulets, the latter van was painted yellow and blue. About
18 motor vehicles were parked in the garage and under the lean-to
roofs. Six tank trucks, and 25X1
3 trucks were lurked in front of the garage. Two rollers and a small
crane were seen in front of the shed for leveling equipment.
3. Building No 7 on Siegesplatz in As ern was a parently used as a
school. At 1200, van-like truck with driver wearing 25X1
red-bordered black epaulets was entered by children with satchels.
Truck with driver wearin; black-bordered blue epaulets 25X1
parked in front of building No 29 on Wimpfen Gasse. Three soldiers
and a female soldier with black-bordered blue epaulets left the
building and departed toward the field in the truck. No activities
were aeon at the cantonment. A solid fuel dump was located in the
cantonment area.
Comment. Aspern airfield is still occupied by a Soviet
