Between 0800 and 1430 on 1 December 1954, 5 MiG-15s, 3 Il-28s and 3 Li-2s were observed at Bad Voeslau airfield. There was a 8/10 25X1 overcast at an altitude of about 1,500 meters, a southwesterly wind of about 8 km/h, and clear visibility as far as Harzberg. No air activity was conducted. Little passenger and vehicular traffic was observed near the hangars. black-bordered blue epaulets. Two trucks and 1 radio truck Gainfarn Castle. The installation was guarded by sentries wearing 2. The following observations were made in the Bad Voeslau military post: with driver wearing black-bordered blue epaulets left the No 25 Hoch STrasse. Four motor vehicles were parked in the garden of the installation. No 1 Hoch Strasse. Three lieutenant colonels and 2 majors all wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets entered the building. Voeslau Castle. Sentiies wearing black-bordered/epa lets were posted in front of the installation. Three trucks and 2 radio trucks were parked in the yard. Two majors wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets and 2 trucks the former with driver wearing black-bordered blue epaulets, were seen entering and leaving the castle. No 1 Bahn Strasse. One jeep was palmed in the garden. Truck and jeep e a er wit driver wearing black-bordered blue epaulets, were parked in front of the building. No 41 Bahn Strasse. No sentries or any traffic were seen. Comment. The 5 MiG-15s and 3 to 5 Il-28s have been observed at Bad Voeslau airfieldfor a long period of time. It cannot be determined if the aircraft are used as trainers by the HQ Fifty-Ninth Air Army or belong to a new combined reconnaissance regiment of the Fifty-Ninth Air Army.
