REMARKS
This is UNEVALUATED Information
1. Between 23 and 30 November and between 6 and 10 December 1954, there was no air
activity at B andis airfield. On 1 December, 2 MiG-15s circled over the field for
a short time of 25X1
2. On 27 and 30 November and 1 December, 2 railroad cars each were unloaded by means
of hoisting equipment at hangar No 6. The load apparently consisted of iron plates,
150 to 200 cm long and a t 80 cm wide and fitted with holes, about 10 cm in
diameter, along the edgese hose plates were runway math 25X1
and had been shipped from Plagwitz near Leipzig. No construction work was under way*
The for steam rollers which had arrived at the field some time ago were still seen
there.
3. The compound which had arrived at the fi-ld iin two railroad s on 1 Nova ber i- r
a dry mixture of sand, gravel and lime. 25X1
4. No radio installations were seen.
25X1
all officers stationed at the field were on leave.
Personnel present at the e nc uded 100 cadre personnel who wore black-bordered
blue epaulets and about 300 recruits who were headed by an NCO. The present location
of the remaining recruits was unknown. Recruits, about 18 years old, were daily seen
dril].ing in several groups. Recruits were only seen in town in groups headed 25P
NCO,

2. Commento The previously voiced assumption that iron plates unloaded 25X1
near hangar No 6 were runway mats appears confirmed by the present information, '

Is
It is believed that the 2,000-meter-long runway is to be 25X1
extended in co ction with the equipping with MIG-15s of the ground attaok
regiment.
Comment. The arrival at the field of about 750 recruits had been 25X1
reported previously. About 450 recruits were presumably transferred to
another unit. It appears unusual that all officers should have been on
leave at the same time.
