1. The Tiszaloek water-power plant is located about 8 lon.west of Tiszaloek
(R 49K 36 , and 2 km. east of Tiazadada and about 30 km. east of ;'iskolc
(R 491J 87).1 A macadamized road, 6 meters ?-ide, which led from Tiazaloek
to Tissadada, was located south of the installation. The road, which had
been constructed in 1950'1951, was ready for tr-?.ffic in late 1951. Other
new roads were constructed in the southern pant area. A double-track
broad-gauge line connected the plant with Tiszaloek. The line was used
exc'usively for construction material shipments.A sdagle=tza.k liaeo
which 1?d from Tiszaloek to Tiszadada, passed the installation in the
south.
2. The construction of the plant, which was planned prier to '"orld .'Jar II,
stertcd in the summer of 1950. The preliminary structure wrs completed
in October 1953. Turbines and engines, which were to be delivered by
plants in the Soviet Zone of Germany, had not yet arrivedd Construction
work-was performed by construction firm 1710- 32 from Budapest.2 For the
duration of construction work, current was delivered from Debrecen via
a hirh-tension line.
3. Approximately 1,600 PVs, predominantly Germans, and 180 to 2CC civilians
were employed in the construction of the plant. Excavators worked 1.n three
s}-ifts, concrete workers in two shifts. No work was performed on Sundays.
The Hungarian engineer Dalaki (fnu) was in charge of the direction of the
entire project.
4. The construction site was surrounded by a barbed-wire fence. Every 150
to 200 meters was an obserrstion tower. The area was guarded by inner and
outer sentries. The inner sentries wore gray-blue uniforms wits blue
epaulets and blue Dollar petchoa-Aud were e9ui with Soviet submachine ATWIlt
guns. The outer sentries wore 6iforms.

prior to 1945. The two concrete pillars in the caster were to be
