1. On 3 December 1954 a.oampaiga was started.in colleges and industrial establish-
aents (mainly Vg's) in the 'Leipaig district to recruit volunteers for.-"honorary
service" in the Tolkspolisei.
2.' As the results of this oailpaign it.r two weeks 'were unsatisfactory, a youth
meeting, was held on 16:Deoe^ber. This meeting was, attended by 1200 1400
youths belonging to orgy isations of the Leipzig area., to the Karl.
Marx University and to tsc3mioal and otter higher schools in the district.

present to enlist for ` hotorary serrioe" in the,V.P. Only 79 new .volunteers
including 24 girls, were enrolled. PVohliah, i o was clearly dissatisfied with
this insult, stated at, the conclusion of the sleeting that, the youth of the
district did not appreciate the seriousness of the situation.
3. The Karl Marc Oberaahul,,/dn which there are about 145 pupils between the ages of
17 and 18 in foas.lla, alb,,12i,and 12b, provided only l3 volunteers despite the
fact that from an id o3.opidal ' point of view this school is aomsidered,' xe0lary."
