1. Before nationalization in 1958, the Vasile Roaita Metallurgical Plant,
Bucharest, belonged to D. Voinea. Five hundred laborers were employed in
the plant which manufactured balance scales and mill scales. The State
enlarged the plant and adapted it to the production of pumps.
2. The pn 8 made at the plant are for use in land reclamation. During the
work on the Danube River-Black Sea canal several types of pumps were
made for use on this project which are no longer being manufactured.
There is a scarcity of raw materials, equipment and replacement parts in
the factory and the work is frequently interrupted for these reasons.
3. The plant has approximately 18000 employees including technicians, and
operates in three 8-hour shifts daily. The director of the factory is
Gheorghe lonescu.
