On 12 November and 7 December 1954, soldiers wearing black-bordered 25X1 blue epaulets were observed at Sohoenwalde airfield. There was no air activity. The radio installation of 4 masts, each about 18 motors high, was observed at the previous location. A small green wooden house and an earthbunker were again seen nearby. Some soldiers 25X1 wearing red-bordered black epaulets were observed there on 12 November. The electric current consumption in the air force quarters was not paid separately by an air force unit, but 90 percent of the consumption were paid by an AA unit with auditor Tyilenev (fnu) and 10 percent by a rocket launcher unit with auditor Chesnakov. 2. During the period from 9 to 17 December 1954, air activity was observed on the following days: 10 December. Between 0800 and 1300, a Po-2 made local flights of about 20 minutes duration. 13 December. Between 1200 and 1400, 3 Po-2s practiced local L1 sr flying in formation. The aircraft had a black number in a white circle on the middle of the rudder assembly. The Nos 1,2 and 3 were observed. A red star was observed over the white circle and, in a slightly smaller shape, under the wings and on both sides of the fuselage. 16 December. Between 1000 and 1200, individual local flights were made by 2 Po-2s. During day flights, a red flag was observed on the control tower. The obstacle lights were repeatedly switched on also at times when no air activity was conducted. 18 to 30 December. No air activity was observed. After nightfall, the hangars were mostly lighted and the obstacle lights were switched on. On 3 and 4 January, no air activity was observed at Schoenwalde airfield. Four 6-meter-high wooden poles were arranged in a square about 300 meters northeast of the target range. The poles were braced by guy wires attached at the mastheads. In the middle of the square of masts there was an earth bunker which was occupied by soldiers whose service color. could not be observed. Comment. The occupation of Schoenwalde airfield has not changed. The army units mentioned in the present report were reported previously. It has t yet been determined from which airfield the Po-2s had come. The radio installation of four masts has repea dl been re orted. For sketch of radio installation furnished see Annex.
