1, The opening of the pyrites deposits at Brand-Erbisdorf near Freiberg has
been delayed by a shortage of funds and technicians. It may therefore be
.--assumed that mining activities have not yet been started in this area, 25X1
2, Ore samples obtained in the Brand-Erbisdorf are have been subjected to
ore-dressing tests by Professor Kirchberg (fnu) of Freiberg. The experi-
ments made showed that the flotation process was a success when completely
fresh ore was utilized even after a short storage period, the mined ore
'ages so much that the result of the ore-dressing process is reduced by
50'-percent, Professor Kirchberg therefore holds that comprehensive pre-
liminary tests for a suitable ore preparation process must still be made
before ore-mining activities can be started in the Brand'Erbisdorf area,
