1. The Laze.Cassiterite Mine.(rudnik imeni Lazo) was located at Lazo (N 63-13,
E 152?10),1 There were seven or eight sections.(ucbastok) of the mime on one
side of Lazo.Camp. Section.No..6 was on the. other side. This section was 25X1
closed in 19538 because the ore was very poor and the miners had to work in
water up to their knees, in both winter and eammmer.
2. The operation of the mine was very similar to the operation of .the Kanon Cobalt
Mine. The mine bad corridors with chutes; ha re weighing 30 kg and drills
weighing 50 kg were.used.
3. Mine section No. 6 was 400 m deep and had corridors which were 50 to 60 in long.
The ore was loaded in mine oars. of 500-kg capacity and pushed by band to the
skip.(lebedka). The buckets of. the skip bald 500 kg, and the skip was operated
by electric power.
4. The norm for loading cars was only ten to 12 cars .per, man per 12-hour shift.
The low norm was a result of the difficulties encountered in this mine. The
chief difficulty was the .:presence of water in the mine; the water, however,
never froze.
The ore was moved by truck to Lazo Cassi:terite'Concentration Factory. No. 3.3
6. The cassiterite was a very strong metal which did not melt easily.. It resisted
heat over 1,,5 00 degrees centigrade.
