In one of the slips at the shipyard there was a naval vessel about the size of a destroyer. It had no superstructure and, the hull was partially red-leaded. One of them was the ex-N(T TB G, shin was departing, a. vessel was seen just off Kronshtadt which had a large high crane aft. it was a repair shin. The pilot said that the shin was to go to beria and to the Northeast Passage. 25X1 a vessel of very unusual construction -bu.t'Ucould -not give 25X1 any details concerning the time or place of observation. The vessel was about 250 feet long; both fore and aft, water could be seen between the double hull. made of two hulls welded together. Four high 25X1 steel snans crossed from one side of the hull to the other. The Fm'-ns were in the form of a, bow they were largest at the base. 25X1 On the underside of the, arch f ormed by the spans, there was a heavy lengthwise runner-rail. Hanging down from the rail there were four sixteer-reeved pulleys. The ends of the cables could be seen through thq aperture in the hull. The vessel was nainted gray. Atom the foremost scan there was some kind of superstructure. The vessel rode high on the water and it travelled. at about three to five knots.
