10,000 tons in the area of Kola Inlet. Each cruiser had two stacks, a bridge
almost as high as the stacks, two triple gun turrets on the foredeck, atd two
triple turrets on the. afterdecks the gun turrdts
on the foredeck were located farther forward than on British or American
cruisers.. Each cruiser 'was painted light gray except for the forward super-
structure which was painted whiten
2. Two of the cruisers were cbnducting?exercises outside Kola Inlet; two,
destroyers and a submarine also took part in the exercises. The ships were
maneuvering back and forth at high speeds. any
firing by any of 'the ships. The third cruiser was observed, a anc or in 25X1
Vayenga Bay (N 69?05, E 33.26).
About ten destroyers of the ,TORO type, two minelayers and a submarine were
observed at the quay at Rosta (N 69.-03s E 33-05)?1 'Inf'ormant could not pro-
vide any details on these vessels.
