1. ./o air altivity >r riamma at )Ar~rw~e airti.Li during New sober 1954.1
2. In late November, more naval fliers tian previously were observed in Wolga25X1
3. Between 30 November and 17 December, only little air activity was observed
at Peenemuende airfield. Six to 8 MiG-15s or U-MiG-15s, 3 tractors and 2
tank trucks were permanently parked south of the main runway. The crews
arrived by truck before aiI activity started. No barracks for the personnel
was observed at the field. 25X1
4. The area between the eastern taxiway and the edge of the wood was used as
dispersal area. Serviceable revetments existed at the edge of the wood
both south and north of the flying lane. Aircraft were seldom seen being
2
parked there. It could not be observed how the aircraft were camouflaged,
5. The vehicles used for towing aircraft resembled the large tractors formerly
used by the German Wehrmacht. They Fad a closed driver's cabin qnd aft
of it a box for tools, ropes etc. It could not be definitely observed
whether the rear dual-wheels were fitted on a single-axle or a double-axle.
The aircraft were apparently coupled to the trctor by means ofashort
towing rod The towing speed was about 20 km/h.
6. SED functionaries launched recruiting campaigns in Wolgast for the
National Armed Forces. There was a negative result at one plant. Results
at other plants were not known.
1.1 Comment. It is believed that Peenemuende airfield is still occupied
by a naval fighter regiment. Only little air activity was observed.
2.I Comment. The eastern dispersal area between the eastern taxiway
and th4 edge of the wood has been reported repeatedly. According to
available information, however, only the revetments south of the flying
lane have previously been known.
Comment. The towing of ai-cra.ft by means of towing nods was also /\
observed at other airfields.
