1. The Czech Armament Works (Ceska zbrojovka) at Strakonice (N49-16, E13-54), which 25X1
produces motorcycles, employs about 10,000 workers and operates three. shifts per
day. The factory area is about 600 meters square. Outside the area, in front of
the factory, a new structure is being built of several stories with a tall smoke-
stack. This is evidently a power station.(See Annex.) Finished motorcycles were
coming off the assembly line at the rate of one every six minutes.
2. Security at this factory is strict, visitors being conducted through the main gate
where there are two military guard huts. Papers are examined, and officials of the
factory have to show their passes. Visitors are taken straight through to a two-
storied building immediately behind the guard posts which houses the drawing offices.
The area is fenced round with barbed wire.
3. was shown only the engine hall (D on the Annex) and the chain shop (E on
e Annex) and was not allowed to see the inside of two other shops (marked X on
the Annex). There are 22 presses of different sizes in the chain shop, where motor-
cycle chains, bicycle chains, and tractor caterpillar chains are produced.
