Although instructions for night-time navigation on the Oder, the
Oder-Havel Canal and the Havel-Elbe Canal were given, no night
shipments have so far been made on these waterways. The Oder River
was illuminated by kerosene lamps and the Oder-Havel Canal and the Elbe-
-Havel Canal were illuminated by means of propane gas and electric lights.
Night shipping was allowed only for special cases.
