preparations for structural changes at the W in
Warnuemuende were under way. The reorganized shipyard will later
serve as pattern for similar changes to be introduced at all large
enterprises in the Soviet Zone of Germany. These changes will mainly
result in a merger of individual working fields in order to save personnel.
Upon completion of the reorganization at the Warnow-Shipyard in Warnemuende
400 technicians will be given notice. The number of other workers to be
discharged could not yet be determined. Most of the technicians.to be
discharged had previously been employed in the aircraft industry and started
in the shipbuilding industry only in 1945. It appears that all these
measures have the aim of inking workers available for other fields of
production (aircraft industry) etc. for the armed forces. Large-scale
discharges of personnel were allegedly to be launched in other large
enterprises in the Soviet Zone of Germany which will not be connected
with structural changes.
