DATE ACQUIRED REQUIREMENT REFERENCES DATE DISTR. NO. OF PAGES 11 March 1955 1. Naval Vessels and Activities: naval again on 5 August and again gunfire was heard. After unloading, naval vessels alnn-q On 1 August these vessels put to sea and gunfire was heard. Two yachts and a training ship also participated in these maneuvers. Another yacht took people from the quay to the vessels for visiting. The vessels re-entered the harbor the same day. They went out hip was moored along the quay at berth No. 18. A target which IL. had not been hit. had been used during the firing exercises was brought into berth No. 16 where there were several other targets. the target 2. Fort Facilities: A commercial ship was under repair in a floating dock al, berTh No. 23. Berth No. 15 was being repaired of damage suffered during World War II. On the quay were two heavy cranes of two-ton capacity. Connected with silo No. 12 there are three or four cranes and two elevators which are used to load wheat. There are four two-ton capacity electrically driven, mobile cranes located along the quer at 3. Port Construction: Two wooden buildings had been demolished and another . ng,was being demolished. Construction was underway to replace these buildings. Excavating machines and cement mixers were being used and soldiers working in the evening provided the labor force. the condition of the people seemed to be better than it a been eight months previously. There is,no unemployment; shops which were closed are now open, and some items are found on the free market. Government buildings are being repaired and public places are receiving better care.
