A dam and power project is located about four kilometers north of Dobsins. (N 48/49, E 20-22), near the village of Dedinky, which will be partially flooded by the newly formed lake. It is close to the ,ystrica r,ai oadb Mssgecany=Cervena Skala-Banska ~ 2. In the summer months, the flow of water from t4e Hnilec River into the main reservoir is very low, When the area is supplied with current by other power stations, the water from the reservoir at the power.=station dam is therefore to be pumped back to the main reservoir. It is not known hot? this is to be-done, 3. The construction is being carried out by Hydrostav, National Enterprise, Bratislava. The construction was begun sometime in 1949 and was to have been finished sometime in 1952., but has been held.up by.a shortage of labor. Because of this the gum allowed for the construction has long been spent and new funds have to be granted. At this rate the project will perhaps be finished by 6, in spite of the fact that work has been largely mechanized. The turbines for the power station have been su lied ~~ Cement is brought from Lietavska Lucka by rail. The origin of the iron material being used is not known. Stone comes from the quarry made by blasting the hillside for the small stretch of railroad line which is being relaid by 'Dystavba Rudnych Bani (VP- __~~i'ioe Development) in the dam area, Two inspectors from the CSD (Czechoslo- vak State Railroads) in Kosice are in charge of this construction. 4. About 600 persons are working on construction of the dam, of whom 400 are permanent employees and 200 are brigade workers, such as students who come for one month and employees of other enterprises who come for two or three months. There are about 40 women, most of- them in'the offices.. The majority of the permanent workers are former tradesmen, independent farmers (kulaks), and craftsmen., who were sent to the construction by the Labor Exchange after being deprived of their property. A 48-hour week is worked.,, with three.shifts. This water will form another small lake on the southwest side of the dam._ The whole embankment is about 300 in. long;. The water is to seep through about 150 m.
