1. The 4 Rumanian Pursuit Regiment, which is part of the fighter division
at Stalin (Brasov), is located at the Sibiu/Turnisor Airfield. There
are 12 YAK'9's, 14 Me's and I,AR-81's, 3.5 MIG-15's and 12 Stormovik.
planes at the airfield. Gasoline is furnished to the airfield from a
large reservoir situated near Hunedoara. The spare parts are furnished
from the central warehouse for Rumanian aviation at Cotroceni near
Bucharest.
2. The flight component of the regiment is composed of two squadrons while
the ground personnel is grouped into the following:
One guard comparV.
One signal compar7 which takes care of the meteorological service.
An administrative company..
The unit has four Rumanian trucks, two tank trucks and two auxiliary
trucks with mobile cranes.
3. The regiment is composed of about 800 men under the command of Colonel
Balan. The ground personnel is composed of about 250 men and is under
the command of Captain Ion Malai. Lieutenant Francise Erkel is the ad-
rninistrative head and Mircea Panescu is the political commissar.
