1. The Nrohoslaw..Captain`Jaros Screw Works (Vrohoslaveka eroubarna kpt. Jarose),
National Enterprise, was formerly known as the Gerhart & Rahm plant. It is
located on the southwest edge of the town of Krupka (N50-41, E13-52) about 150
meters northwest of the Krupka (formerly Vrchoelav) railroad station. The factory
enclosure is 130 x 70 meters in size. There are fields and meadows on the northwest
and southwest sides of the enclosure. The, southeast side adjoins the railroad
station, and the northeast side adjoins dwelling houses in Krupka. The approach
and main entrance to the factory are on the northwest. On the northwest, south-
west, and northeast sides the area is surrounded by a fence 150 centimeters high,
with 50 centimeters of barbed wire on top. On the southeast side, toward the
railroad station, the site is open and unfenced.
2. The factory makes screws and nuts of all kinds and large rivets, probably for
iron constructions. The plant fulfills., its production plan 100 percent. It uses
an avjsrage of about 10 truckloads of'materials per month. Most of the plant output
is said to go to the USSR. It is also said that a certain part of the production
goes to the Avis plant in Prague-Letnany. Most of the finished products are taken
away by rail. On as average, one truckload of scrap is removed peg week.
3. For electricity, 10,000-volt current.;.is supplied by the Trmice power station over
long-distance cable. Officially .Permitted consumption is 600,000 kw per month,
but in fact the consumption averages 750,000 kw.
4. There are about 400 employees, of whom about half are women. There are no brigade
workers or prisoners. During the summer holidays 1.0 or 12 students work in the
factory. Workers' performance is fairly good, because the low wages force them
to keep up a high output. About one third of the workers have their meals in the
works canteen, where the food is quite good. The factory provides apartments for
aboi;it 100 workers. The others live in the town or in the neighborhood. %o pa=ger
